Job description

​TGRC has partnered with an international company who is seeking a Wind Portfolio Lead to join their team.

This role will be reporting to the Head of Business Development - Australia, and will be focused on the development of new greenfield and brownfield portfolio following acquisition or inclusion in their development pipeline, with predominant focus on wind farms developments: from land contracts management, through project feasibility analysis (technical and financial) and management of permitting and connection process, supported by their in-house subject matter specialists or external consultants. This role will be key to complement the Business Development activities while managing a small team of one or two developers across the full cycle of project development activities from greenfield through to fully approved and ready to build projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing primary and secondary consents whilst ensuring project approvals reflect optimal design and flexibility and that these are obtained in accordance with the Development Schedule.

  • Preparation of detailed project development schedules and budgets.

  • Ability to define and critically assess the projects’ financial metrics and lead the project team in achieving the objectives.

  • Acting as internal focal point for the project and proactively engaging with internal departments such as Engineering & Construction, Legal, Finance and Commercial office.

  • Managing external consultants such as permitting specialists or grid connection advisors to achieve the required development milestones in accordance with approved schedule and budget.

  • Develop projects within the regulatory and environmental permitting framework considering Federal, State and Local requirements.

  • Proactively update and maintain all key project registers (Risk Register, Stakeholder Register and other internal documentation), and inform senior management as required while proposing mitigation measures and resolve challenges as these arise.

  • Develop, present reports, presentations and Business cases for Senior/Executive Management team including project performance against approved schedule and budget.

  • Actively engage and foster relationships with key project stakeholders, including landowners, and local authorities.

  • Manage and mentor junior team members within the Development Team.

  • Adhering to company policies with a strong focus on the environment, and health and safety.

What we search in you

  • Minimum bachelor's degree qualification in Engineering, Finance or Planning & Environmental.

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in wind farm development or a related field as wind engineering, statutory planning, environmental planning.

  • Exposure to wind development

  • Track record in Project development/project origination within the renewable energy industry.

  • In depth experience taking developments through statutory planning processes.

  • Strong understanding of environmental approval legislation including the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and relevant state acts.

  • Sense of Initiative, results-driven and attention to detail.

  • Ability to navigate highly variable environment and solving complex problems.

  • High level of analytical and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills

  • Requirement to travel from time to time as required.
