VP Project Management Office
Job description
We are seeking a senior Project Management leader to establish, lead, and continuously improve the PMO function for a growing portfolio of renewable energy and low-carbon infrastructure projects. This strategic role requires a seasoned project delivery professional with deep experience in energy, infrastructure, or process industries. The VP will partner closely with the executive team and project directors to ensure predictable, safe, and high-quality outcomes across multiple complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Governance & Leadership
Lead the PMO, overseeing project controls, scheduling, reporting, risk management, and delivery standards.
Define and implement project governance frameworks across all project phases (concept, FEED, construction, commissioning, handover).
Manage portfolio-level steering committees and provide structured updates to senior leadership.
Align project delivery processes with corporate strategy, commercial objectives, and regulatory requirements.
Portfolio Management
Plan and manage scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting for multiple capital projects.
Ensure robust cost control, forecasting, and financial oversight across the project portfolio.
Identify bottlenecks, risks, and emerging issues; proactively maintain schedule and project viability.
Coordinate cross-functional interdependencies between engineering, permitting, procurement, contractors, and operations.
Performance, Reporting & Risk
Implement and maintain project control documents, including logs for Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies.
Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor project health (schedule, cost, quality, safety).
Lead enterprise-level risk management to mitigate technical, commercial, and regulatory risks.
Standardize change management, lessons learned, and post-project reviews.
Build and mentor a high-performing PMO team.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
Collaborate with internal teams across engineering, commercial, legal, permitting, procurement, and operations.
Manage and evaluate external contractors, consultants, and technology partners.
Represent the organization in strategic discussions with investors, regulators, and key industry stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
Essential Experience
10+ years in project management leadership roles within energy, renewables, waste-to-energy, biogas, or complex process industries.
Proven track record leading PMOs or major capital project portfolios (£50m–£500m+).
Strong understanding of FEED, EPC delivery models, contracting strategies, and construction lifecycles.
Expertise in risk management, project controls, scheduling, and financial forecasting.
Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and external contractors/consultants.
