Job description
The Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Transmission Manager for one of the leading developers in the market!
Pay Rate: $140-150k (DOE) + 35% bonus
Employment type: Full-time
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate potential project sites based on powerflow data, queue evaluation, delivery options, and physical transmission access.
- Support and/or lead the interconnection process for client projects, from assessment of interconnection options, filing of necessary applications, evaluation of utility technical studies, and negotiation of interconnection agreements.
- Identify and recommend transmission development project opportunities
- Develop high level conceptual design of electrical facilities within Wind or Solar generation facilities.
- Provide a high level cost estimate for the necessary facilities for connection of generation to the Bulk Electric System.
- Understand inverter based generation behavior and impacts on electrical transmission systems (SSO, weak grid, reactive power, etc) and ensure compliance with technical interconnection requirements.
- Provide assessments of transmission-related market dynamics, such as LMP pricing, nodal basis risks, congestion risks, etc. using available data or by performing SCED analysis in a commercially available software tool.
- Thoroughly and concisely document and explain interconnection status to internal Project Developers and third-parties during project development and financing.
- Assist Power Marketing in communicating interconnection position(s), status, timeline, and congestion risk for Client Projects to potential counterparties.
- Ability to work with and manage technical consultants
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required. Master’s degree with an emphasis in Power Systems or equivalent practical experience preferred
- Knowledge of Powerflow concepts is a must. Familiarity with SCED concepts is preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years in the electrical industry.
- Transmission Planning experience with a utility, RTO/ISO, or consulting firm is important
- Knowledge of Power Markets and production cost modelling software is a plus
- Direct experience in wind and solar farm design or construction and field experience is a plus
