​Title: Substation Engineer

Location: Norway (Remote)

TGRC is seeking a skilled and dedicated Substation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design, development, and maintenance of electrical substations. This role involves ensuring the reliability and efficiency of substation operations, coordinating with various stakeholders, and adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development:

    Lead the design and development of electrical substations, including equipment specification, layout design, and system integration.

  • Project Management:

    Manage substation projects from conception through completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.

  • Technical Specifications:

    Prepare detailed technical specifications and drawings for substation components such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protection systems.

  • Compliance and Standards:

    Ensure all substation designs and operations comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.

  • System Analysis:

    Conduct system analysis and load flow studies to optimize substation performance and reliability.

  • Equipment Selection:

    Select and procure substation equipment, ensuring compatibility and performance requirements are met.

  • Installation and Commissioning:

    Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment and systems.

  • Maintenance and Upgrades:

    Develop and implement maintenance schedules and upgrade plans to ensure the ongoing reliability and efficiency of substations.

  • Troubleshooting:

    Diagnose and resolve technical issues and faults within substation systems and equipment.

  • Documentation:

    Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical reports, schematics, and maintenance records.

  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with other engineers, project managers, contractors, and utility companies to coordinate substation projects and operations.

  • Safety Management:

    Ensure all substation activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Continuous Improvement:

    Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in substation engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:

    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional engineering license is preferred.

  • Experience:

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design, development, and maintenance.

  • Technical Expertise:

    Strong knowledge of substation components, electrical systems, protection schemes, and industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC).

  • Analytical Skills:

    Proficient in conducting electrical system analysis, fault analysis, and performance optimization.

  • Project Management:

    Proven experience in managing complex engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

  • Communication Skills:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.

  • Problem-Solving:

    Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and address technical issues efficiently.

  • Attention to Detail:

    High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in design and documentation.

  • Software Proficiency:

    Proficient in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, and other relevant applications.

  • Team Player:

    Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and manage relationships with various stakeholders.
