Job description

​We’re delighted to be partnered exclusively with an exciting renewables IPP in their search for an Substation Engineer.

The firm develops, owns and operates grid scale renewables assets across the Australian East Coast. The company has grown substantially since starting up in recent years and now have a comprehensive origination, development and asset engineering team – a real mix of energy veterans, mid-career experts and young, ambitious talent.

Working with the Head of Engineering, this role will provide sound electrical engineering advice and technical support for the development, construction and long-term operation and maintenance of electrical substations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and layout of substation equipment and systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, and protective relays.

  • Selection and specification of substation equipment and materials.

  • Ensuring that all substation designs comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards.

  • Construction supervision and commissioning of substations.

  • Monitoring the performance of substations and making adjustments to optimize efficiency and reliability.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing equipment as needed.

  • Maintaining accurate records of substation performance and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design and construction.

  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and their integration into the electrical grid.

  • Experience with high and low voltage equipment and systems.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant safety and regulatory standards.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Renewables experience desirable
