Job description

Title: Solar & BESS Project Developer (Investment Fund)

Location: London Area, United Kingdom (Hybrid)

To support the business expansion as Project Manager for Behind-the-Meter (BtM) projects in development and under construction across the UK.

Role

  • Develop the new pipeline of battery storage and renewable energy project together with the Director of UK and Irish Project Development and other members of the team.

  • Develop and manage relationships with existing and new development partners, suppliers, advisors, landowners and other counterparties. Monitor supplier delivery, budget and payments.

  • Assess potential projects for development and acquisition, using financial models, preparing investment papers and presenting opportunities to Investment Committee.

  • Manage legal, technical and commercial due diligence activities for project acquisitions.

  • Monitor and report on project development progress and budget, helping to identify areas to prioritise for development partners, advisors and team members, bringing project to the Ready to Build (RTB) stage.

  • With support from advisors and partners manage the detailed aspects of the development process, such as land options, cable easements, planning submissions, permitting and grid connection arrangements.

  • Some travel to meet and build relationships with project and development partners, landowners and project sites.

  • Help to collate project documents, keeping them accurate and up to date.

  • Preparing RTB assets for transfer to funds managed by the fund, or other investors, and management of the legal and practical handover process.

  • Supporting the Procurement and Project Delivery Team to bring projects to the Final Investment Decision (FID) stage.

Responsibilities

  • Candidates will ideally come from a technical/engineering, planning, project development, project management or consultancy background and have 4-5 years’ experience in the power or renewable energy sector.

  • Demonstrable skillset in managing project development and asset acquisition and/or sales.

  • Proven ability to manage local site stakeholders and advisors through development. Degree (Master or Diploma) in engineering, business administration, economics, law, or comparable studies, planning consultancy.

  • Computer literacy, conversant with Microsoft Office in particular Excel. CAD skills desirable.

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and to deadlines and under time pressure.
