Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Safety Manager to oversee and manage safety operations on a utility-scale solar site. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and risk management specific to large-scale renewable energy projects. The Senior Safety Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of all personnel, contractors, and visitors on-site while maintaining the highest standards of safety performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:
Provide leadership and guidance on safety matters, fostering a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Risk Assessment:
Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
Safety Programs:
Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the utility-scale solar site.
Training and Development:
Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
Incident Management:
Lead investigations into safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Inspections and Audits:
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the site, equipment, and operations. Report findings and oversee the implementation of corrective actions.
Emergency Response:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures. Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and simulations.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, reports, and documentation. Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior management.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate safety into all aspects of site operations.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging safety technologies. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance safety performance.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of safety management experience in the renewable energy sector, with at least 5 years in a senior or supervisory role on utility-scale solar projects.
Certifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or equivalent certification preferred.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and other relevant safety standards and practices specific to solar energy projects.
