Environmental Health Safety Specialist
Job description
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health & Safety Specialist to support large-scale energy and wind development projects. These environments involve complex operations, heavy equipment, elevated work, and potentially hazardous conditions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment through inspections, program development, regulatory compliance, incident investigation, and proactive risk mitigation.

HSE certification (required)
Experience managing control of work systems and permit referencing
Proven incident investigation experience
Experience working at heights
Safety auditing experience
Preferred/Nice-to-Have Qualifications
ASP or CSP certification strongly preferred
Construction Safety Certification is a plus
Key Responsibilities
Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
Develop, implement, and improve safety programs and procedures
Lead and document incident investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions
Enforce adherence to safety standards, including stopping work when conditions pose risk to personnel
Evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to reduce hazards
Recommend and implement risk mitigation strategies
Demonstrate proper use of safety equipment and ensure workforce compliance

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to lead initiatives and work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams
Comfortable engaging with craft labor, supervision, and management levels
Proactive, detail-oriented, and confident in high-risk environments
Experience Requirements
5–10 years of direct, hands-on safety experience
Experience in heavy lifting, civil construction, or large-scale construction projects strongly preferred
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement)
