Senior Interconnection Manager

​Our client is hiring a Manager or Senior Manager, Interconnection to lead all aspects of the generation interconnection process — from coordinating studies and managing applications to negotiating agreements and supporting construction for renewable energy projects nationwide.

The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of the generation interconnection process and related engineering for solar, energy storage, and natural gas projects. This role requires deep knowledge of FERC large generator interconnection processes and tariff requirements, experience supporting early-stage development of utility-scale projects, and strong familiarity with interconnection and power flow studies.

This position reports directly to the Director of Transmission & Interconnection and will work closely with the company’s asset management, energy markets, legal, and finance teams in an individual contributor capacity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the generation interconnection process for utility-scale solar, storage, and natural gas projects, including:

  • Pre-application feasibility analysis

  • Interconnection application submission

  • Interconnection study and agreement processes

  • Communication of study results and EPC milestone tracking

  • Provide analysis and feedback to internal site selection processes to identify feasible transmission locations aligned with queue application windows.

  • Coordinate with transmission consultants to develop technical application packages.

  • Submit interconnection applications to ISOs and utilities.

  • Ensure timely execution of study agreements, deposits, and study fee payments.

  • Track key interconnection milestones, including:

  • Deficiency corrections

  • Scoping and study meetings

  • Study agreement execution and funding

  • Study results review

  • Generator Interconnection Agreement (GIA) negotiation, execution, and milestone tracking

  • Coordinate with utilities, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to obtain necessary interconnection approvals.

  • Participate in ISO/PTO generation interconnection forums and other stakeholder meetings; communicate key industry updates to executive leadership.

  • Collaborate with internal Land Acquisition, Engineering, Permitting, EPC, and Operations teams to develop a robust pipeline of renewable projects.

  • Provide interconnection support for project acquisitions, financing activities, and due diligence.

  • Support coordination for co-located generation projects with data center campuses.

  • Maintain and update company tracking tools to ensure milestone accuracy and performance visibility.

  • Manage consultants and service providers, including work order approvals and scope oversight.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience, preferably within the renewable energy industry.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline (preferred).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience using project management software and tracking systems.

  • Ability to work on-site at least 3 days per week on site.
