Job Title: Senior Energy Manager / Head of Energy Compliance

Location: Slough / Basingstoke / Home-based

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000

Role Overview:

To support the Group Sustainability Director in driving sustainability value through programmes that reduces carbon emissions and utilities spend across estates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Group Sustainability Director to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, technical guidance, and organizational policies specific to energy, buildings, sustainability, and wider environmental issues.

  • Manage the Green Capex fund with sound programme management principles to ensure that projects are delivered in line with the approved business case.

  • Educate and raise awareness for sites globally on the principles of the Green Capex fund, encourage submissions, and scrutinised submissions to ensure that efficiency claims can be verified.

  • Undertake post project measurement and verification of utility and carbon efficiency projects to prove that savings are genuine and as expected.

  • To visit sites as required to carry out energy and carbon efficiency audits (including waste and water), prepare reports containing efficiency recommendations, and manage associated projects to deliver improvements.

  • Work with the Group Sustainability Director to develop engagement packages for continuous improvement of employees’ behaviour on energy and carbon efficiency.

  • Support the Group Sustainability Director on the company's scope 3 carbon assessment.

  • Identify trends and advise on ways to drive efficiency based on energy and carbon data.

  • Cooperate with, develop, and maintain constructive working relationships with appropriate internal stakeholders and external consultants

Your Profile:

  • Experience in carrying out surveys, reviewing the latest technologies, and submitting recommendations after full evaluation relating to energy efficiency and carbon reduction.

  • Proven programme and project management experience in delivering building efficiency projects

  • Prior experience in energy analysis and profiling, energy audits for existing buildings

  • An exceptional communicator who is able to think creatively and solve problems.

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent knowledge and experience, ideally in a general sustainability, environmental, engineering, or building services discipline.

  • Specialist knowledge and experience of energy management, technologies in the decarbonisation sector and target setting.

  • A self-motivated individual, who is able to manage time and priorities.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in general energy and carbon efficiency centric position.

  • Demonstrable experience of working within, on behalf of, or alongside a large estates function.

  • Professional Membership of a recognised industry body, working toward Chartered Status (CIBSE, IEMA, Energy Institute etc.) will be advantageous
