Job description
TGRC partnered with a renewable energy land investment platform focused on securing strategic land positions for utility-scale renewable energy development across the UK. The business works at the front end of the development cycle, identifying and acquiring land suitable for solar, onshore wind and battery storage projects before progressing sites through development in partnership with developers and investors.
We are hiring a Senior Business Development Manager – Land to lead land origination activity and expand the organisation’s land portfolio.
The Role
This is a field-based origination role focused on identifying and securing new land opportunities suitable for renewable energy development.
The role will focus on originating and securing land opportunities across Scotland and Northern England, working directly with landowners, estates, rural land agents and agricultural stakeholders to identify sites suitable for utility-scale solar, wind and battery storage development.
The successful candidate will play a key role in building a high-quality pipeline of land opportunities while working closely with internal investment and development teams who will support the technical, planning and commercial evaluation of sites. The role offers a high level of autonomy and will suit someone comfortable building their own pipeline across a large geographic territory.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and originate new land opportunities suitable for renewable energy development
Build and manage a pipeline of prospective sites across target regions
Engage directly with landowners, estates, rural land agents and agricultural stakeholders
Conduct site visits and gather relevant commercial and site information to support project evaluation
Work alongside internal development and investment teams to assess site viability
Support the negotiation of option agreements and long-term land leases
Progress opportunities from initial landowner engagement through to signed agreements
Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and reporting
Build long-term relationships across landowner and rural networks
Represent the business at relevant industry and regional networking events
Profile
7–10+ years’ experience in land acquisition, renewable energy development or rural business development
Background in renewable energy, land agency, rural surveying or agricultural land transactions
Proven ability to originate land opportunities and build a pipeline
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation capability
Comfortable engaging directly with landowners, estates, agents and senior stakeholders
Entrepreneurial, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a field-based role
Strong organisational and pipeline management skills
Willingness to travel regularly for site visits and stakeholder meetings
Full UK driving licence
