Job description

​Our client, a premier battery storage developer, owner and operator are seeking a Head of Origination to join the management team. The newly established platform are a portfolio company of a high-profile PE sustainable infrastructure investor.

The firm are developing battery projects for the PE funds existing operational 25GW projects and has a current development portfolio that exceeds 6GW+.

Our client seeks to hire a Project Finance Counsel to support the Company in ongoing debt, tax equity, and other financings to support the utility-scale stand-alone battery storage projects that it will develop, construct, own, and operate in North America. This is a cross-functional position that will be part of the Legal, Compliance and Policy Team reporting to the Chief Legal Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, negotiate, and close corporate financings and project-level capital markets transactions including tax equity fundings, construction financings, creation of credit facilities, and other financings.

  • Manage in-house and external paralegal support in connection with financings and reporting obligations.

  • Work with Director of Legal Systems on entity management and updates to organizational charts.

  • Manage and support transaction execution for project financing, including helping structure transactions and draft and review transactional documents, liaising with internal and external counsel and team members on transaction documentation, due diligence, transaction closings and business integration from a legal perspective.

  • Support transactions for the acquisition of battery storage projects, as needed.

  • Engage and manage outside project finance counsel.

  • Support cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with financing covenants.

  • Assist with special projects as requested and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as the business grows and changes.

Skills and Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school and at least four (4) years of prior work experience in renewable energy related project finance.

  • Must be licensed to practice law in at least one state in the United States, preferably in California or New York.

  • Ability to perform all aspects of work with a high degree of accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to uphold standards of complete discretion and confidentiality as well as exercise good judgment and integrity in day-to-day decisions.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to demonstrate attention to details and good record-keeping.
