Job description
Are you passionate about driving the clean energy transition and contributing to impactful renewable energy projects across the U.S.? A leading independent renewable energy developer, owner, and operator is seeking a talented Project Engineering Associate or Manager to join its growing team. This position can be based in either Denver, CO or New York, NY, and offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in advancing the development, design, and execution of large-scale solar and storage projects.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll work across multiple engineering disciplines - including civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical - supporting projects from early-stage development through construction. You’ll collaborate closely with internal procurement, construction, and project management teams, ensuring engineering deliverables align with project goals and timelines.
This role also involves managing external engineering partners, reviewing designs, optimizing technical approaches, and ensuring that technical requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle. Candidates with experience across both greenfield development and operational assets are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a project engineer across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes for renewable energy projects.
Partner with procurement and construction teams to manage design progression from conceptual layouts to issued-for-construction (IFC) documents.
Identify and drive technical optimizations to enhance project economics and performance.
Manage coordination between internal teams and external consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers to ensure seamless delivery of engineering scopes.
Support technical due diligence, risk assessments, and problem-solving across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
4-7 years of experience in project engineering, technical project management, or engineering design - preferably within the solar or broader renewable energy sector.
Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
Proven experience collaborating across internal teams and with external engineering firms, contractors, and vendors.
Experience with renewable energy projects in the U.S., particularly utility-scale solar and energy storage, is highly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $120,000 to $200,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Comprehensive benefits package, including performance-based bonus, 401(k) matching, healthcare, paid time off, and wellness perks.
