Position: Principal Civil Engineer

Location: United Kingdom

Contract Type: 12-month contract

Hourly Rate: £60

Role Overview:

As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will take a key role in our client's power generation projects, providing technical leadership and expertise in civil engineering. You will be responsible for leading the design, construction, and management of civil engineering aspects of power generation projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, budgetary constraints, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the civil engineering design and execution for power generation projects, including site layout, foundation design, drainage, and access road design.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the civil engineering team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure project success.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and environmental impact assessments to inform project planning and design.

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.

  • Oversee the construction phase, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

  • Perform regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement appropriate corrective measures.

  • Manage project budgets and resources, ensuring efficient utilization and cost control.

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to civil engineering in the power generation sector.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in civil engineering, preferably within the power generation or renewable energy sector.

  • Proven track record in leading and delivering complex engineering projects.

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering design principles, construction methods, and relevant codes and standards.

  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools for design and analysis.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.

  • Membership in a professional engineering institution is desirable.
