Position: Principal Civil Design Engineer

Location: United Kingdom

Contract Type: 12-month contract

Hourly Rate: £60

Role Overview: As a Principal Civil Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our client's power generation projects, leading the civil design aspects of the projects. Your expertise will contribute to the successful execution of projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, adherence to budgetary constraints, and high-quality design standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the civil design process for power generation projects, including concept development, detailed design, and documentation.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the civil design team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure project success.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and environmental impact assessments to inform design decisions.

  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.

  • Utilize engineering software and tools to analyze and optimize design solutions.

  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical and electrical, to integrate their requirements into the civil design.

  • Perform regular design reviews and participate in design validation and verification activities.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to civil design in the power generation sector.

  • Ensure that designs prioritize safety, sustainability, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in civil design engineering, preferably within the power generation or renewable energy sector.

  • Proven track record in leading and delivering complex engineering projects.

  • Strong knowledge of civil design principles, construction methods, and relevant codes and standards.

  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools for design and analysis.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.

  • Membership in a professional engineering institution is desirable.
