Job description
The Opportunity:
Renewable Power Capital, a leading pan-European renewable energy investment platform backed by CPP Investments, are seeking a PPA execution expert with a European focus, to lead the negotiation and execution of power market contracts. This role can be based in Madrid or London.
The Role:
Your responsibility will be to lead the negotiation and execution of power market contracts, including long-term corporate and utility PPAs, route-to-market agreements and hedging frameworks.
Lead the negotiation and execution of corporate and utility PPAs, long-term contracts for the sale of Guarantees of Origin, and long-term revenue contracts for energy storage projects for Renewable Power Capital
Help to originate and maintain relationships with both corporate and utility counterparties as well as corporate PPA advisors, GoO brokers and battery optimisers
Be responsible for external negotiation as well as securing internal approvals of all long-term power market revenue contracts and related documentation
Work closely with the Investments and Structured Finance teams at RPC to optimise offtake structures and strategies as part of investment valuation and approval processes
In the future, possibly manage a team of expert power market negotiators
The Individual:
Excellent understanding of complex contract negotiations, ideally within the space of structured energy transactions. An in-depth knowledge of project finance documentation or other complex documents in the renewable energy space may compensate for a lack of direct experience within power markets
Significant experience in contract documentation and considering the requirements of long-term equity investment and structured finance requirements
Experience leading the negotiation of PPA documentation as well as ancillary documents, such as direct agreements and credit support documents would be advantageous
Ability to work in a small, geographically dispersed, expert team that covers a large number of investments and markets
Strong communication skills, with high capacity to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and work as part of a transaction team
At least 3 years’ experience in relevant roles, such as at a law firm, in energy m&a, as a PPA or financial advisor or in any power market contract roles, working across numerous European markets
An understanding of European power and broader global energy markets is advantageous
