PPA Origination Manager

​As a recruitment partner to a growing player in the European renewable energy market, I am supporting the search for a commercially driven PPA Origination Manager / Energy Trader to join a dynamic and entrepreneurial team based in Hamburg.

This opportunity sits at the intersection of structured energy trading, PPA origination, and market analytics - ideal for someone who thrives in both negotiation and quantitative environments.

The Role

In this position, you will take ownership of commercial energy strategies and long-term offtake structures across renewable assets and storage solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and acquiring new energy customers within the renewable energy space

  • Structuring and optimizing yield hedging strategies across investment portfolios

  • Leading contract negotiations for direct marketing agreements, Corporate PPAs and Guarantees of Origin (national and international)

  • Preparing, managing and following up on competitive PPA tenders (RFP processes)

  • Financial modelling and economic evaluation of PPA structures and battery storage solutions

  • Preparing decision-making materials and presenting to internal and external stakeholders

  • Conducting ongoing electricity market analysis, including regulatory and risk monitoring

  • This is a commercially visible role with direct impact on revenue generation and portfolio performance.

Your Profile

We are looking for a professional who combines analytical strength with strong negotiation capabilities.

  • University degree in Economics, Industrial Engineering, Energy Management or similar

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in PPA negotiations and/or energy trading, ideally within renewable energy

  • Strong understanding of electricity market structures, regulatory frameworks, price drivers and battery storage economics

  • Confident working with analytical tools (e.g. Python, Power BI) and advanced Excel skills

  • Fluent in German and English (additional languages advantageous)

  • Commercial mindset with clear sales aptitude

  • Self-driven, solution-oriented and confident in negotiations
