Job description

Job title: Power Originator

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States (Hybrid)

Our client, a Chicago-based battery storage IPP, is looking to add an experienced Power Originator at the Senior Manager/Director level to work closely with its commercial and development teams.

This key role will lead responses to energy storage RFPs and bi-laterally originate and manage offtake opportunities. This is a high-visibility role in which you will be the most senior originator in a fast-growing company, reporting to the VP, of Commercial Analytics & Market Operations.

This is a diverse role which will lean into renewable energy finance aspects – it will be both technical and commercial. Ideal candidates will need to have a solid understanding of how contracts and deals are constructed and will also be integral to building and maintaining business relationships with key offtake customers (predominantly in CAISO and ERCOT) through direct engagement, industry conferences and working groups.

The opportunity provides a fantastic growth trajectory and an opportunity to work closely with senior management who are experts in their field on business and commercial strategy.

**This is a hybrid role in Chicago. The business can assist with relocation for those willing to relocate to the Chicago area**

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in power origination roles

  • Demonstrated experience in CAISO and ERCOT systems sourcing/closing/originating offtake agreements

  • Strong knowledge of project finance, financial modeling, and valuation techniques.

  • Familiarity with energy industry commercial transactions: basis risk, power markets, hedging, losses, and congestion

  • Strong commercial skills and proven “closer” (identifies, and executes transactions)

Frequent travel across the United States is also expected (c. 25%)

In conclusion, Don't miss this exciting opportunity to be part of the renewable energy revolution. Apply now and be a key player in shaping a sustainable future!
