Job description
My client – a leading European integrated energy company – is seeking a Portfolio Manager with a strong background in renewable PPAs and energy trading to help shape and grow its continental renewables portfolio.
This is a high-impact role within the commercial function, overseeing a portfolio of renewable offtake contracts and market positions across key continental markets (e.g., Denmark, Germany, Netherlands). The successful candidate will also act as a coach and role model to less experienced colleagues.
This role is ideal for someone with 5–10 years’ experience in renewables, energy trading, or commercial portfolio management, who’s looking to blend strategic responsibility with team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and optimise a portfolio of renewable PPAs and energy trading positions across continental European markets
Act as a senior point of contact for counterparties, internal stakeholders, and external partners
Lead commercial analysis, market positioning, and risk mitigation strategies within the portfolio
Ensure alignment between PPA structures, market access, and trading strategies
Monitor European power market dynamics, including regulation (e.g. REMA, CfD equivalents, market coupling)
Contribute to ongoing portfolio development and commercial innovation (e.g., new structures, hybrid assets, flexibility integration)
Represent the team in internal governance and strategy discussions
What We're Looking For
5–10 years’ experience in energy trading, renewable PPAs, or commercial portfolio management
Strong knowledge of European energy markets, particularly Denmark and Germany
Experience negotiating or managing PPAs, balancing positions, or hedging strategies
Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with commercial acumen
Proven ability to support and coach junior colleagues
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English (additional European languages a plus)
Degree in engineering, economics, finance, or a related discipline
