Renewables Planner- UK Onshore Wind, BESS & Solar PV

Location: Middle / South of England (Remote)

Salary: DOE

TGRC is working with a leading renewable energy developer who is looking for a Planner to join their team.

Focusing on renewable energy projects in England, Scotland, and Wales, the position involves managing all aspects of planning documentation and staying updated on pertinent planning legislation. Effective stakeholder engagement, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong sense of personal accountability for work quality are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake early site feasibility assessments of potential development opportunities from a planning perspective using a variety of sources, including GIS systems.

  • Conduct detailed site assessments to determine renewable energy development potential, including site inspections, thorough analysis of planning histories, policy interpretation, and consideration of material factors.

  • Manage the preparation and submission phases of planning applications.

  • Coordinate stakeholder and public involvement, including early consultation with the public and all relevant stakeholders, as well as organizing and attending public consultation meetings.

  • Develop and manage planning strategies for live projects.

  • Assist in managing issues as they arise on projects during the determination phase and oversee post-submission matters such as the discharge of planning conditions.

  • Stay abreast of relevant updates in the planning system and energy policy context.

  • Maintain a continued focus on improvements, welcoming new and innovative approaches.

  • Project manage teams of planning consultants, funding partners, and planning budgets.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years private/public sector experience.

  • Membership, or eligibility, for the Royal Town Planning Institute. We can support with obtaining Chartered status if this has not been achieved.

  • Excellent research, attention to detail and report writing skills.

  • The ability to work on own initiative and to work collaboratively with other members of the team.

  • Full Driving License.
