Operations Technician

​TGRC is supporting a leading U.S. energy storage owner-operator in the hire of multiple Renewable Energy Technicians to support the operation and maintenance of several utility-scale battery storage projects across Texas.

These are hands-on, site-based roles focused on keeping critical electrical infrastructure running safely and reliably, supporting a fast-growing fleet of grid-scale assets.

The Role

As a Renewable Energy Technician, you will be responsible for the safe inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of utility-scale BESS equipment and associated balance-of-plant systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on BESS equipment (PCS, inverters, transformers, switchgear, breakers, protection systems)

  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and support rapid restoration of site availability

  • Support switching, LOTO, and safe work procedures across MV/HV equipment

  • Execute work orders, inspections, and reporting through CMMS / maintenance platforms

  • Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and internal operations teams for repairs and upgrades

  • Assist with commissioning support, warranty activities, and field diagnostics as required

  • Maintain high standards for safety, housekeeping, and compliance

Candidate Profile

  • 2–8+ years of hands-on electrical maintenance experience in one or more of:

  • Utility-scale BESS

  • Solar PV / Renewables

  • Substations / T&D

  • Power generation (gas/steam)

  • Industrial electrical / critical facilities

  • Comfortable working with medium voltage equipment (and high voltage exposure preferred)

  • Strong troubleshooting capability across protection, controls, and electrical systems

  • Able to work independently in remote project environments

  • Willingness to participate in call-out / rotating coverage if required

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass standard site access requirements

Preferred:

  • BESS commissioning / OEM exposure (Fluence, Wärtsilä, Tesla, Powin, etc.)

  • NETA, NICET, NABCEP, or similar certifications

  • Experience with relay testing / protection & controls
