Position Details
The Operations Manager will act as the owner representative and subject matter expert on O&M-related issues for a growing portfolio of operating power generation assets, including but not limited to solar and wind generation facilities.
Key Accountabilities
This individual will manage a broad range of commercial and operational asset management activities, including but not limited to the following:
Interface with contracted Asset Management and O&M service providers on operational issues
Develop a vegetation management (VM) strategy for solar assets, and coordinate with internal and external service providers to ensure site VM programs are maintained and properly executed
Ensure that lessons learned from site construction and design are reflected in future facilities and EPC engagements
Ensure compliance with operational permits and other site obligations
Collaborate with HSSE to align site-level HSSE programs with client's standards
Visit operating sites at regular intervals to inspect operations, foster site level relationships with O&M providers, and review HSSE program implementation
Engage during site construction with a long-term owner perspective to support sustainable site development that minimizes long-term OPEX and CAPEX
Facilitate a seamless transition from site construction to site operations
Maintain internal OPEX inputs for development databooks in coordination with others
Experience and Education
At least 10 years of experience in utility scale power plant operations, including solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), with consideration also given for experience with conventional power generation plants
Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required with sufficient operational experience and a proven track record
Advanced degree such as an MBA or professional certifications are a plus
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated success in the renewable energy sector, particularly in solar energy
In-depth knowledge of power plant operational safety practices, and the ability to lead internal and external teams to adopt safe work practices
Ability to efficiently manage and track operating expenses, read financial reports, prepare or assist in the preparation of budgets and cost forecasting, and support strategic decision-making
Strong understanding of operational risk management
Ability to collaborate effectively and efficiently with diverse teams
