My client is a global developer in the offshore wind field. They are currently looking for a Site Assessment and Layout Engineer. This person will be responsible for being the person of technical expertise through all stages offshore wind project development. They would be involved across all areas including wind data management, wind resource modelling, wind turbine layout design, energy assessment, wake modelling and yield optimization.

The main responsibilities for this would include:

• Being main point of contact within offshore wind for all technical areas
• Developing and managing a consistent approach throughout offshore wind portfolio on calculations and methodologies
• Implementing improvements in energy yield and wake modelling assessments, including further development of methods, models, processes, and software solutions
• Managing and processing of wind and metocean data as well as mathematical, statistical analysis and modelling for the purpose of yield modelling
• Developing and optimization of wind farm layout designs
• Critical analysis of site data
• Developing communication and networking skills needed for business development in global wind industry

Qualifications and Experience required:

• Master’s Degree in Coastal and Marine Engineering/ Marine Engineering Science/ Renewable Energy/ Meteorology/ Physics etc
• Experience within offshore wind (minimum 5 years) and expertise in offshore wind resource assessment, wind modelling, energy yield calculation, layout optimization and wind turbine technology required
• Strong knowledge in wind farm development, engineering, construction and operation of wind farm projects
• Experience of using software such as WindFarmer, Windpro, OpenWind
• Strong experience in numerical modelling and statistical treatment of data using programming languages such as Matlab, R, Python
• Fluent in English and French
