The Role

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer is a critical role within the Offshore Renewables Business, focusing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects.

Key Tasks

As the Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will lead Geotechnical Engineering in the development phase, tasks will include:

  • Manager ground engineering risks and activities.

  • Supporting project ground engineering activities to continually identify, monitor, and manage ground engineering risks.

  • Identifying where consultancy support is required to manage ground risk. Defining scopes of work, tendering, and managing ground engineering consultancy packages. Supporting and advising the relevant packages during foundation and cable design to ensure ground risk is appropriately managed.

  • Supporting and advising the relevant packages during the foundation and cable installation to ensure ground risk and contractual/commercial risk are appropriately managed.

  • Communicating ground risk.

  • Ensuring the project surveys meet the design and installation requirements of the project packages through continued stakeholder engagement and management.

  • Supporting Ground Engineering components of the certification process in collaboration with relevant packages.

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate most of the following:

  • Education to Degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Chartered or working towards chartered status with a relevant institution.

  • Significant knowledge and experience of design and installation activities for an offshore wind farm.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of offshore procedures, standards, and guidelines.

  • The ability to balance technical detail with commercial needs and provide recommendations, taking into account both aspects.
