​Offshore Geotechnical Engineer - Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Projects

TGRC is excited to announce an opening for an Offshore Geotechnical Engineer based in Portland, Maine. This position is instrumental in supporting diverse renewable energy and infrastructure projects, focusing particularly on offshore developments.

Position Overview

Duration: 12-month contract
Location: Portland, Maine
Experience: Experience in energy projects beneficial
Compensation: $60 per hour

Job Description

In this critical role, you will apply your geotechnical engineering expertise to the unique challenges of offshore environments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Subsurface Exploration: Conduct offshore subsurface investigations, including drilling and sampling, to gather data on soil and rock properties.

  • Geotechnical Analysis: Analyze geological data to assess risk and design parameters for offshore structures like wind turbines, platforms, and undersea cables.

  • Design Recommendations: Provide recommendations for foundation designs based on geotechnical findings, considering factors such as load capacities and environmental impact.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential geotechnical risks associated with offshore construction and develop strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.

  • Collaborative Engineering: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including marine biologists, environmental scientists, and structural engineers, to ensure that geotechnical considerations are integrated throughout project planning and implementation.

  • Project Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations that convey complex geotechnical information to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering field.

  • Demonstrated experience in offshore geotechnical engineering, preferably on renewable energy projects.

  • Proficiency with geotechnical software and tools for subsurface analysis.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in challenging and dynamic environments.

  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in report writing and data presentation.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
