Offshore Geotechnical Engineer | Newport | Rhode Island | Offshore Wind

TGRC is actively searching for a skilled Offshore Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Newport, Rhode Island. This role is critical for supporting a variety of innovative renewable energy and infrastructure projects focused on offshore development.

Position Overview

Duration: 12-month contract

Compensation: $60 per hour

Job Description

The Offshore Geotechnical Engineer will be integral in addressing the geotechnical aspects of offshore project development. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Subsurface Exploration: Plan and execute offshore geotechnical investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing to assess soil and rock properties beneath the seabed.

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze geotechnical data to evaluate the stability, bearing capacity, and deformation of soils and foundations for offshore structures such as wind turbines and other renewable energy facilities.

  • Design Input: Provide critical input on the geotechnical design of offshore foundations, ensuring designs are optimized for durability and stability in challenging marine environments.

  • Risk Assessment and Management: Identify potential geotechnical risks in offshore environments and develop effective mitigation and management strategies.

  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with engineers across multiple disciplines, project managers, and environmental scientists to ensure seamless integration of geotechnical data and recommendations into project designs and plans.

  • Technical Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports, presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders and ensuring compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in offshore geotechnical engineering, with a preference for those with experience in renewable energy or infrastructure projects.

  • Proficient with geotechnical analysis and design software.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills for reporting and team collaboration.

  • Legal right to work in the United States.
