Job description

​My client are a global professional services company in the renewable energy sector. Due to a vast amount of growth, they are now looking for a Mechanical Engineer specialised in Grid Stability & Operability. This role sits within the Power Networks Team, and will adopt a leading role in the designing, planning and developing of the mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive mechanical engineering solutions for power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.

  • Utilise your expertise in power systems to design and analyse mechanical components and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and technical reports for power-related projects.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and performance assessments to optimise mechanical systems for power generation and distribution.

  • Perform risk assessments and provide recommendations to mitigate potential challenges in power system designs.

  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to the professional growth of the team.

  • Engage with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and present innovative solutions that align with their project objectives.


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Chartered Engineer status with a recognised engineering institution (e.g., IMechE) is preferred.

  • Proven experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on power systems projects.

  • In-depth knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, including familiarity with relevant codes and standards.

  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools for analysis, simulation, and design.
