Job description

An innovative and mission-driven energy company is seeking a Grid Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of grid connections for utility-scale BESS projects across Germany.

Originally founded as a spin-out focused on repurposing EV batteries, the company has quickly grown into a grid-scale BESS developer, with multiple projects currently in the construction phase. Joining the team means being part of a dynamic, forward-looking business dedicated to building a sustainable energy future.

The Role

As a Grid Engineer, you will take responsibility for the electrical planning and project engineering of grid connections for medium- and high-voltage BESS projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and timely integration into the grid. You will coordinate with internal teams, DSOs/TSOs, and contractors from planning through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute grid connection processes for MV and HV BESS projects

  • Support project teams from initial application through to commissioning of grid connections

  • Interface with DSOs/TSOs, EPC contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth integration

  • Provide clear guidance on technical feasibility and limitations, balancing practical constraints with project objectives

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant German and European grid regulations and standards

Your Background

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with experience in medium- or high-voltage systems

  • Proven experience with grid connections for PV, BESS, or other utility-scale energy projects

  • Hands-on experience with project planning, commissioning, and execution

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate what can and cannot be done

  • Fluent in German and English

Why Join?
  • Work for a mission-driven company at the forefront of energy storage innovation

  • Be part of a hybrid-friendly, collaborative team in Aachen

  • Take ownership of technically challenging, high-impact projects

  • Competitive salary, with flexibility for the right candidate

This role is ideal for a practical, hands-on engineer with medium-voltage experience, who wants to take responsibility for grid integration and be part of the energy transition in Europe.
