Job description

The Green Recruitment Company are delighted to be supporting our Client, an innovative SmartGrid solution provider, who are accelerating the delivery of net-zero schemes within the real estate sector through the integration of Solar, Battery and EV Charging assets.

They are looking for a Head of Commercial to support the Sales team in securing contracts that deliver long-term value to our customers and shareholders. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of their Residential, I&C and Grid Connection contracts, namely all key clauses and agreed negotiation positions.

  • Lead the negotiation of multiple contracts at the same time, working alongside the Sales Team and picking up points of detail with in-house General Counsel / external legal team as required.

  • Lead the drafting and completion of project specific aspects (e.g., technical appendices) of multiple contracts at the same time, securing information from teams across the business.

  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive Final Investment Decision (FID) papers that clearly set out the project and the financial, legal and balance of risk/reward to support project CAPEX approval and signature of contracts.

  • Lead other commercial projects and task within the business.

  • Recruit and manage Commercial Managers in line with business demands. 

Key Requirements:

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will need:

  • A degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business or Law

  • A minimum of 10 years' overall experience in Commercial roles, with expertise within the renewable energy sector

  • A strong understanding of key Commercial Principles, including developing financial business cases, structuring/negotiating commercial contracts and assessing commercial risks

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to manage and motivate commercial teams and contract managers

  • A proven track record in closing commercial contracts on time and to budget

  • A passion for renewable energy and a desire to contribute to the transition to a low carbon economy
