Job Description: As the Grid Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing grid connection activities for our client's renewable energy projects in New Zealand. You will lead a team of skilled professionals and collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure successful grid integration and compliance with regulatory requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions and drive the clean energy transition.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the grid engineering team, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support in grid connection activities.

  • Oversee the grid integration process for renewable energy projects, including technical studies, interconnection agreements, and grid code compliance.

  • Collaborate closely with grid operators, utilities, and regulatory authorities to facilitate efficient and timely grid connection for renewable energy projects.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including network service providers, transmission system operators, and relevant government agencies.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to identify grid connection options and optimize project design and performance.

  • Provide expertise in grid code requirements, power system modeling, and analysis to ensure compliance and minimize grid integration challenges.

  • Manage and negotiate grid connection agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and other relevant contractual arrangements.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory developments related to grid integration and renewable energy.

  • Support business development activities by providing technical input during project feasibility assessments, tender processes, and contract negotiations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. A master's degree is desirable.

  • Extensive experience (minimum 8 years) in grid engineering, power systems, or electrical infrastructure within the renewable energy sector.

  • In-depth knowledge of grid connection processes, grid codes, and regulatory frameworks in New Zealand.

  • Strong understanding of power system operation, network planning, and grid stability considerations.

  • Proven experience in successfully managing grid connection projects for large-scale renewable energy developments.

  • Familiarity with power system modeling software, such as PSS/E or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.

  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team to deliver exceptional results.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions in grid integration.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • A passion for renewable energy and a strong commitment to driving the clean energy transition.
