Job description

The Opportunity:

The Wind Yield Engineer Analyst will be a member of the Onshore Wind Power Global team in the Renewable Generation Division. They will be responsible for providing technical expertise during all stages of wind project development in the specific subjects of wind resources assessment, wind data management, wind resource modelling, wind farm layout design, wind loads & site conditions assessment energy yield modelling, wind loads, site condition assessment and yield optimization with respect to LCOE.

The Role:

  • Management, processing and provision of wind data (via data and acquisition management), as well as mathematical, statistical analysis and modelling (long-term wind climate, wind energy yield analysis) for the purpose of net yield modelling for projects in different lifecycle phases (qualification, prospection, due diligence, development, engineering, operations) using industry standard tools

  • Development and optimization of wind farm layout with focus on maximization of LCOE

  • Help to develop a database of meteorological met mast, sodar and lidar, tracking data and tower status

  • Evaluation of design concepts, technical solutions, inherent risks (in terms of wind energy yield and uncertainties) through in-house or third-party energy yield assessments

  • Execution of technical due diligence (wind, statistics, layout, yield, technical losses) in the acquisition and evaluation of wind projects

  • Advise Business Opportunity Managers regarding potential project bids

  • Maintain productive relationships and work with internal and external stakeholders in various areas of wind resource assessment as needed, coordinating specific tasks from scoping to presenting the results, clearly understanding the intent of the work and helping to shape the task itself

  • Develop technical skills in appropriate areas, for example: wind analysis; use of GIS for site design; data acquisition via SCADA

The Individual:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Meteorology, Physics, Mathematics, Aerodynamics, Aerospace engineering or other quantitative field. Master's degree preferred

  • 5+ years of relevant experience and expertise in onshore or offshore wind statistics, wind modelling, energy yield calculation, layout optimization and wind turbine technology

  • Experience in numerical or CFD modelling

  • A solid background in quantitative evaluation and experience handling large datasets for analysis

  • Experience using wind data, wind resource and wake modelling software solutions (e.g. Windographer, WindFarmer, OpenWind, or equivalent)

  • GIS experience is a plus
