Job Title: Engineering Substation Manager

Location: United States (Remote)

TGRC is looking for an Engineering Substation Manager to join a leading Engineering Consultancy that is looking to grow their Power Delivery team. This is a Senior Technical Leadership position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and nurture our Substation Electrical team, providing guidance and mentorship to staff members.

  • Take charge of substation design for large and intricate projects, conducting thorough quality assessments.

  • Oversee and approve calculations, drawings, and specifications, while also conducting condition assessments and feasibility studies.

  • Craft proposals detailing technical scopes, level of effort, and cost estimates.

  • Develop technical specifications for material and equipment procurement and installation.

  • Create designs for electrical substation facilities, encompassing site and bus work layouts as well as ground grids.

  • Scrutinize both internal and external designs for adherence to codes, good design principles, and feasibility of construction.

  • Resolve on-site inquiries, participate in meetings, and conduct inspections throughout project construction phases.

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation about substation design and construction, including completion packages and as-built requirements.

  • Draft functional specifications to address facility needs across various system development portfolios, aiding in preliminary designs and cost estimation.

  • Engage in thought leadership initiatives such as speaking at conferences, participating in panels, and contributing technical articles and whitepapers.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum 10-15 Years of experience in direct Substation Electrical engineering & design in the Power and Utility industry with key considerations for substation design including physical layouts and details, one line, grounding, control building, etc.

  • PE License.

  • Familiarity with utility industry standards and practices including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI, and have advanced knowledge of Substation design practices related to physical electrical design development and relevant supporting calculations.
