Job description

​A leading developer, owner, operator in the clean energy sector is seeking a highly capable Manager of Energy Storage Engineering to lead technical strategy and design execution for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). This is a pivotal role within a growing engineering team focused on delivering high-performance, safe, and commercially viable storage solutions across the U.S. and select international markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coach, and support a team of early-career engineers responsible for design, testing, and execution of grid-scale energy storage projects.

  • Oversee the technical development of storage system designs, including preliminary layouts, augmentation strategies, and project optimization tools.

  • Review detailed designs from external consultants and internal team members to ensure project quality and performance standards are met.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with construction, procurement, project management, and safety teams during project delivery and commissioning.

  • Support negotiation of technical terms with suppliers, EPCs, and clients, particularly around scope definition, performance guarantees, and warranties.

  • Contribute to internal process improvements and the development of technical standards and documentation.

  • Guide the team through fire safety considerations, testing protocols, and ongoing project evaluations.

  • Stay up to date on emerging battery technologies, system integration best practices, and supplier innovations.

  • Represent the engineering team in internal and external stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, or related discipline required).

  • At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience, with increasing responsibility.

  • Proven experience delivering or managing utility-scale battery storage projects.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with a track record of mentoring technical staff.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% for project and team-related needs.

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.

Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.

  • 7+ years of experience in energy storage, renewable energy, or power systems.

  • Experience participating in contract negotiations and cross-functional project delivery.

  • Familiarity with energy storage augmentation strategies, grid interconnection, and commissioning protocols.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Base Salary: $125,000 – $150,000

  • Performance Bonus: Up to 40%
