Director Project Finance | Renewable Energy | Tax Equity

Our client is an established renewable energy DG platform seeking a Director, Project Finance to lead tax-equity financing for solar/storage projects throughout the US.

This experienced individual will be responsible for leading non-recourse financings in its residential business unit. This role will be responsible for coordinating the strategy and executing the plan to raise warehouse debt, term debt, cash equity, tax equity and/or loan funding capital to support growth in the residential business.

A strong deal sheet for tax equity deals in the US is a prerequisite for this hire.

This person will develop and maintain relationships with current and potential investors and collaborate internally with colleagues in financial products, sales, legal, tax, accounting, risk, loan/lease servicing, FP&A and others.

Key to this role will be a keen ability to manage complexity and efficiently drive deals to closure, as well as to innovate on new ways that financial structures can be optimized for the business. This position will report to the Senior Director, Project Finance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Originate and lead project financings to support the residential solar and storage business

  • Develop and manage cross-functional deal teams for efficient execution and post-closing integration into operations

  • Present and report on transaction status, risks and opportunities to senior leadership

  • Create best-in-class structures to optimize margins

  • Initiate and maintain relationships will all classes of potential financing partners

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics or related area of study. Master’s degree preferred.

  • 10+ years’ experience in project finance.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Superior understanding of tax equity structures, market, and implications on capital structures.

  • Significant experience in leading project finance and capital markets transactions.
