The Opportunity 

TGRC are working with an EPC company looking for a Constructoin Manager to oversee the planning and the construction of solar photovoltaic projects in Egypt. Through the coordination of the Site Managers and the supervision of personnel and activities carried out by the construction company.

Key Responsibilities 

• Monitor site performances of projects and coordinate with PEM so that projects are delivered to specification, programme, within contract price and in accordance with company procedures 
• Monitor and communicate to PEM compliance of projects with Health, Safety & Environmental documents and plans 
• Analyse, communicate and mitigate risk § Oversee the performance on site, first point of communication with contractors and coordination with the Site Managers and PEM 
• Coordinate with the Site Managers for the preparation of the progress report
• Support in solving any issues or problems related to customs and logistics etc. that may have potential detrimental impacts of project progress as directed by the PEM 
• Attend key progress, coordination and interface meetings with the contractors; report to PEM and Senior Management Team
• Responsible for overseeing the contractors’ compliance with construction specifications and standards
• Responsible for overseeing the contractors’ compliance with Quality Management System
• Support the Site Managers as needed  
• Updating construction programme based on observation of site works (indicating key environmental, planning, procurement, design, construction, commissioning and completion milestones) 
• Coordinate with PEM for resolution of any site technical matters on the projects that are escalated up from the Site Managers 
• Review the summary progress reports of the Contractor Construction performance and communicate to PEM 

Requirements

Qualifications : 

• Degree in relevant engineering discipline; preferably Electrical and Mechanical 
• Health and Safety certificate and Project Management qualification is desirable

Experience:

• 15 years of experience in managing site works for renewable energy power plants or similar projects such as conventional power plants and electrical Medium Voltage works; 5 of which at Construction Management level
• Previous experience in large multi-contract energy projects 
• Experience managing projects in Egypt

• Ability to work with a team of PEM, Site Managers, support engineer and several contractors and subcontractors 
• Ability to plan and see the ‘big picture’ 
• Excellent Communication skills & fluent in Arabic and English 
• Excellent people management skills 
• Competent in conflict and crisis management –collaborative approach to solving issues with the community, contractors, colleagues
• Understanding of quality assurance processes 
• Health, safety and environmental legislation applicable to construction projects 
• PC knowledge of Microsoft applications (specifically MS Project) 
• Knowledge of specification, design, maintenance, construction and commissioning of construction works 
• Awareness of regulatory issues impacting the business 
• Procurement processes
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Team work and contractor management skills 
• Proven ability to lead and work in a team and contractors’ environment
