Job Description:

My client are a UK based fund who invest in renewables in Europe and the Americas. The Construction Project Management Lead is a pivotal role within the fund, influencing the deployment of capital to both maximise value for investors and flag key areas of risk which only an experienced engineer will identify. The successful candidate will work closely with the investment team and provide technical input into all new investment opportunities throughout the acquisition cycle and across multiple technologies.

Purpose of Role

  • Lead on all technical input (pricing, risk, technical complexity) involved in assessing investment opportunities

  • including identifying red flags and, where feasible, putting forward potential technical solutions.

  • Using planning and pre-planning phase experience to identify technical risks and manage consultants and other advisors through these early development stages.

  • Leveraging industry contacts including suppliers, consultants across technologies (including grid) to best serve the business

  • Negotiating the technical aspects of construction related (TSA, BOP, Battery EPC, subcontractors & owner’s engineer) contracts from the perspective of the employer

  • Leading on planning permission related issues both for wholly owned investee companies in the early stages of development and alongside future development partners.

  • Managing and challenging external due diligence counterparties from a technical perspective as part of the acquisition process and sale process.

  • Work as a key stakeholder in the business, across all the development activities undertaken by the investment team including origination, development, networking and investor engagement.

  • Technical input into investment committee papers throughout the investment cycle

Qualifications / Skills Sought:

  • You’ll have an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline.

  • You’ll have a minimum 8 years' prior experience gained in either a utility company, renewable developer,

  • renewable fund or a reputable financial institution with project finance or renewable investment background.

  • You’ll have experience in early stage (planning and pre-planning) development of renewables infrastructure.

  • You’ll have solid, demonstrable, and relevant experience in renewable construction developments and sale transactions with a proven track record.

  • You’ll be commercially astute and experienced in negotiating contracts and commercial arrangements with sophisticated counterparties.

  • You’ll be able to form relationships with and effectively manage contracts, and form enduring relationships with other project stakeholders including landowners and grid employees.

  • You’ll have strong interpersonal skills; able to build rapport quickly and develop long-term relationships with all stakeholder groups.

  • You’ll have a resilient character with the ability to operate optimally within a fast-paced, private equity backed environment.

  • You’ll be highly numerate with strong analytical skills and a working knowledge of Auto-CAD.

  • You’ll be willing and able to travel frequently and on short notice, particularly to Scotland.
