Job title: Climate Adaptation Manager
Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia (On-site)
TGRC is working with a leading Impact consulting firm dedicated to driving positive change in the world through innovative strategies and solutions. They work with a diverse range of clients to address pressing environmental and social challenges, with a focus on sustainability, resilience, and equity.
Position Overview: They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Climate Adaptation Manager to join their team. The Climate Adaptation Manager will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to help our clients adapt to the impacts of climate change. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in climate science and adaptation strategies, as well as strong project management and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Client Engagement: Work closely with clients to understand their climate-related risks and vulnerabilities, and develop tailored adaptation strategies to build resilience.
Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis on climate change impacts, adaptation options, and best practices, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for clients.
Project Management: Lead and manage climate adaptation projects from inception to completion, including scoping, budgeting, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination.
Capacity Building: Provide training and capacity-building support to clients and stakeholders on climate adaptation principles, tools, and techniques.
Partnership Development: Cultivate partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing on climate adaptation.
Risk Assessment: Conduct climate risk assessments and vulnerability assessments for clients across various sectors, and develop risk management strategies to mitigate impacts.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track the effectiveness of adaptation measures and identify opportunities for improvement.
Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of emerging trends, tools, and methodologies in climate adaptation, and contribute to thought leadership initiatives through publications, presentations, and conferences.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science, climate science, sustainability, or a related field.
Minimum of [X] years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or related fields.
Strong understanding of climate change science, impacts, and adaptation strategies.
Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, and/or private sector clients on climate adaptation projects.
Proven track record of project management, including scoping, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement.
Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Certification in climate adaptation or related fields (e.g., C-CAP, GACAP) is a plus.
