Business Developer – UK Grid & Energy Storage

Job description

A fast‑growing clean‑energy scale‑up is expanding its presence in the UK grid market, and we’re looking for a Technical Business Developer to help drive that growth. This is a chance to join a company that’s reshaping how temporary and flexible power is delivered — and to play a key role in accelerating the energy transition.

The role

You’ll be part of a collaborative Commercial Team, working closely with Sales, Product, and Operations to bring innovative mobile battery and grid‑support solutions to customers across the UK.

Your focus will be on identifying new opportunities, opening doors, and managing your own pipeline from first conversation to signed contract. You’ll combine commercial drive with a strong understanding of the UK grid, BESS, and energy‑transition projects to turn complex challenges into clear, valuable solutions.

This is a consultative sales role — you’ll ask the right questions, listen carefully, and guide customers toward the best technical and commercial setup for their needs.

Your mission: grow market presence, win new clients, and help organisations make their operations cleaner, smarter, and more flexible.

What you’ll be doing

  • Building and managing your own pipeline across the UK grid and energy‑storage market

  • Identifying and approaching new business opportunities

  • Advising customers on technical and commercial solutions

  • Preparing tailored proposals and delivering impactful presentations

  • Negotiating terms and closing deals

  • Working closely with technical, product, and operations teams to design the right solutions

  • Staying up to date with market trends, policy changes, and emerging technologies

  • Representing the company at industry events and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders

  • Handing over new clients smoothly to the account management team

What we’re looking for
  • 3–5 years of B2B sales experience (energy, consultancy, or technical solutions preferred)

  • Strong understanding of the UK grid and energy market

  • Consultative sales approach — you listen, understand, and advise

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (technical + commercial)

  • Proven track record of generating leads and closing deals

  • Analytical, curious, and proactive mindset

  • Self‑driven and eager to help grow the UK grid business

  • Degree in engineering, business, or similar is a plus
