Job Title: Accounting and Finance Controller

Location: Tokyo, Japan (On-site)

This role is integral to our client's expansion efforts in Japan, offering a unique blend of challenges and opportunities within the sustainable energy industry.

The Accounting and Finance Controller will play a key role in steering the financial operations, embodying dedication to excellence and making significant contributions to sustainable energy advancements.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings for the Japan Renewables Power division.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements in Japan.

  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with local financial regulations.

Financial Operations:
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, cash flow management, and expense control specific to the Japan Renewables Power division.

  • Implement and maintain robust financial systems, processes, and controls to safeguard company assets and optimize efficiency.

  • Identify and implement process improvements, streamlining financial operations and implementing best practices tailored to the renewable energy sector in Japan.

Stakeholder Management:
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, project teams, and business development, providing financial insights to support the objectives of Japan Renewables Power.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders in Japan, such as banks, investors, and regulatory authorities, ensuring smooth financial operations and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is preferred.

  • Proven experience of at least 8 years in financial management, preferably in the renewable energy or investment industry.

  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements specific to Japan.

  • Solid understanding of tax regulations and financial reporting requirements in Japan.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Bilingual communication skills in both English and Japanese
