Job description

My client are an engineering consultancy exclusively supporting the On/OffShore Wind market, due to contract award they are currently looking for an experienced SAP who can act as a Control engineer for switching on 34kV wind turbine generator array networks during maintenance activities. The role will support and provide guidance to the 24/7 shift team of operators within the Control and Monitoring Centre and perform control engineering duties. 

This is a fixed 6 months collaboration starting in September and based on Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria . Option to extend for 3 months period.

Key Tasks:

  • Planning of all switching activities on sites onshore activities
  • Monitoring and reporting in the SCADA-system
  • Managing and controlling a complete log of all activities on site including all switching activities
  • Controlling the safety documents for the Electrical Safety Rules on site
  • Controlling and managing all HV- and LV-electrical operations on site
  • Advise operationally on high voltage electrical installations to WTG, offshore substations and both HV-submarine cables.
  • Oversee all MV/HV/LV electrical operational activities to ensure safety, security and integrity of the HV network
  • Following the Code Compliance in the relevant Country
  • Reviewing the high voltage scope of work
  • Develop reference documentations and processes
  • Ensure compliancy with and managing of customer Electrical Safety Rules
  • Participation in safety coordination around electrical operations
  • Outage management and network control
  • Prepare and check high voltage switching schedules
  • Check method statements for electrical matters
  • Implement and provide training programmes for relevant staff according to the rules
  • Provide technical and engineering advice to working parties for electrical matters

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge and experience with country specific standards
  • Planning & reporting skills
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
