Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Government Affairs to lead their efforts in building and maintaining relationships with government entities and regulatory bodies. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping and advocating for policies that support the company’s business objectives and promote the growth of the solar industry. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the U.S. government landscape, significant experience in corporate government relations, and a strong reputation in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive government affairs strategies to advance the company’s interests at federal, state, and local levels.
Serve as the primary liaison between the company and government officials, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.
Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that impact the solar industry and the company’s operations.
Advocate for favorable policies and regulations, working closely with lawmakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key government officials, policymakers, and industry leaders.
Lead and manage the government affairs team, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and objectives.
Oversee the preparation of position papers, testimony, and other advocacy materials.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business development initiatives and corporate communications.
Ensure compliance with all relevant lobbying and ethics regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Policy, Law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Proven track record of at least 10 years in government affairs/Marketing and Communications roles, with a focus on the renewable energy or technology sectors.
Extensive experience in corporate government relations and a strong network within the U.S. government and industry.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively advocate for the company’s interests.
Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process.
Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team.
Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in legislative tracking tools and government affairs software.
