Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Government Affairs to lead their efforts in building and maintaining relationships with government entities and regulatory bodies. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping and advocating for policies that support the company’s business objectives and promote the growth of the solar industry. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the U.S. government landscape, significant experience in corporate government relations, and a strong reputation in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive government affairs strategies to advance the company’s interests at federal, state, and local levels.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and government officials, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.

  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that impact the solar industry and the company’s operations.

  • Advocate for favorable policies and regulations, working closely with lawmakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key government officials, policymakers, and industry leaders.

  • Lead and manage the government affairs team, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and objectives.

  • Oversee the preparation of position papers, testimony, and other advocacy materials.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business development initiatives and corporate communications.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant lobbying and ethics regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Policy, Law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in government affairs/Marketing and Communications roles, with a focus on the renewable energy or technology sectors.

  • Extensive experience in corporate government relations and a strong network within the U.S. government and industry.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively advocate for the company’s interests.

  • Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process.

  • Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in legislative tracking tools and government affairs software.
