Client 

Our client specializes in providing procurement and technology solutions for energy to C&I customers. Headquartered in the USA, the business is currently undergoing an expansion of their provision of services to Europe. As part of this process they are looking to launch a new European office. They are seeking a VP of Europe to head up this operation. The role will suit an established professional. The ideal candidate will have experience of the European energy/renewable energy sector. A good knowledge of the technical aspects of PPAs is essential as well as commercial awareness. The role will offer scope to shape the direction and strategy in Europe for the business with a well-regarded product.  

The role represents the ambition of our client to be a leader in the European renewable energy space. You will be the public face of their European operation, helping the business achieve revenue and sales targets. You will also be instrumental in making the business a presence with c-suite/board members in the European market. 

The role has the following key responsibilities: 

  • Ensuring an effective launch of the business in Europe; in presence and in achieving revenue targets.

  • Leading the sales function and grow a wider stakeholder eco-system. This will include travel throughout Europe to cultivate direct sales opportunities. 

  • Leading on the growth of a European team of front/middle office specialists. 

  • Developing and innovating PPA structures. Liaising with legal teams in the USA to provide insight into the European electricity market. 

  • Provide input for product innovation that will add greater functionality for European clients. 

  • Run the business unit like a start-up.  

The role is a senior position. Sitting at the head of a team and business that is expected to grow quickly. Ideally candidates should meet the following requirements: 

  • Significant experience of the European energy/renewable energy sector. Experience of multiple European geographies preferred. 

  • A proven record of accomplishment in leadership and managerial roles in large businesses. Including full P&L control and responsibility for achieving revenue targets. 

  • Good awareness of trading platforms, settlement mechanisms and transmission within Europe.

  • A good personal network of contacts in the sector. 

Our client wants to find the right candidate for this leadership role. There is a strong prefernce to recruit this position in one of the following: Netherlands, Spain or Ireland. This will be chosen in conjunction with the hire. The benefits package will be competitive, based on salary, commission, bonuses and options.
