Job description

​The Green Recruitment Company is working alongside a leading European energy trader with +13 GW of renewable power under management and over 15 years of experience in innovating the European PPA market. They provide competitive solutions that help manage merchant risks and lower costs whilst meeting the needs of investors and banking partners.

Their UK Power Origination team is responsible for generating and delivering profits in non-vanilla (e.g. exchange, brokered) power transactions within the UK market. As such, the UK Power Originator will be expected to be experienced enough to identify, originate and execute transactions from beginning to end, mobilising resources within the necessary areas of Energy Marketing & Trading (EM&T) business.

The UK Power Originator will have an understanding of risk management, be expected to deliver transactions with an adequate risk/return profile and optimise return on resources (capital and/or people). This is a London based role which allows for hybrid working.

 

The Role:

 

  • Delivering non-standard products and solutions to commercial, industrial and wholesale customers.

  • Demonstrate the capability to grow the existing business which consists primarily of renewable power purchase agreements and other forms of route to market products to generators and consumers. This will require strong commercial acumen.

  • Use flexibility and underlying commercial skills to seek out new opportunities as they arise in the UK market.

  • Build relationships with customers and other market counterparties.

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a strong ability to build relationships and participate in the wider UK Energy market.

  

The Person:

 

  • Experience of commodity origination or other commercial, customer facing role with proven experience of deal closure 

  • Track record of delivering to tight commercial deadlines

  • Knowledge of the UK electricity market and, preferably, all other aspects of the UK energy market

  • Proven versatility to adapt to changes in the market environment and to change business models accordingly

  • Commercially creative

  • Understanding / experience in debt/equity/ Structured finance / M&A

  • Experience and knowledge of corporate finance and the various aspects of energy sector project financing
