The Role:

As Technical Director you are responsible for technical delivery across our London, New York and Toronto offices. You will own all technical solution design and oversee the quality of output from all technical production partners.

You are solution oriented with great communication skills. You will have hands on development and technical workflow expertise, able to lead development partners in the creation of exceptional digital products.

• Technical production specifications are well written and briefed
• Promote a positive and healthy working relationship with technology

• Maintenance of development partner / freelance roster
• Technical projects are delivered to specification and deadline
• Risk prioritization and identification, and mid-project review/health checks
• Project Managers & Designers are supported with issue resolution
• Build a strong affinity for development in a design culture, build empathy

through sharing understanding and knowledge across design/dev cultures

• Manages roadmap to continually improve our development workflow
• Front-end UI experience is smooth, fluid and to Athlon creative standards
• Provide hands on guidance and direction to developers to refine experience
• Establish a standard UI toolkit approach that speeds development and communication around performance and quality
• Ability to identify and resolves issues at a code level
• Work with Designers to prototype product concepts
• Contribute to Athlon thought-leadership articles and talks
• Know the latest trends, participate in the tech community
• Contribute to internal Design Shares and monthly all-company meetings

Experience and Skills:

• 4+ years of experience building workflows and UIs

• Excellent analytical and problem solving
• Excellent communication, with internal and external stakeholders
• Comfortable working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive and positive attitude
• Experience working with offshore international teams
• Knowledge of asynchronous JavaScript
• Experience with efficient client-side development
• An understanding of application architecture and design patterns
• Experience in the full software development life cycle
• Expert – HTML5, JS, React, PHP, Git, C
• Experience with Node.js
• Familiarity with C++ or other object-oriented languages
• Experience programming in Python or other interpreted languages
• A working knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems
• Experience with Agile software development
