Solar PV Designer

Location: South East of the UK

Salary: DOE

TGRC is working with a leading renewable energy company who are looking to recruit a Solar PV and BESS designer that will be instrumental in supporting the successful development of the existing UK based onshore wind project portfolio & delivering future growth for the business over the coming years.

This role will be specialising in the development of large-scale, grid-connected solar farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems.


  • Layout designing and creation of both planning level & legal drawings of utility-scale megawatt range Solar PV & BESS projects.

  • Relevant experience working on multiple projects in the 30+MW range would be advantageous.

  • Identifying new leads using GIS and following the journey with the UK grid lead & land team until the lead progresses to an active project.

  • Undertake initial yield assessment of potential solar sites.

  • Being the go-to technical and design expertise person for any support required in the development of projects.

  • Engaging with the DNO post-acceptance to deliver technical designs and drawings as required.

  • Keeping abreast technically with current developments in solar PV panels, mounting structures, inverters, battery storage system types etc. to incorporate within initial layouts.


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in utility-scale solar farm development, design, and construction cycles.

  • Experience in all aspects of the design of multi-megawatt Solar PV installations using AutoCAD, PVSyst, and PVCase.

  • Proficient with MS Office and comfortable at creating models on excel to assist with your designs/assessment.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Renewable Energy, Engineering, or related discipline
