Construction Manager - Utility Scale Solar - Projects in Texas
As a Construction Manager you will oversee, plan, and manage Utility scale solar projects from start to finish. Your role is crucial in ensuring that client requirements are met, projects stay on schedule and within budget, and all safety and procedural policies are adhered to. Responsibilities will vary depending on the client and project size, with varying degrees of responsibility and authority.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the project team alongside the Project Manager (PM), fostering a respectful, constructive, and positive work environment.
Oversee the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the project.
Supervise construction workers, their supervisors, and other Construction Managers.
Coordinate activities among Construction Managers, Foremen, trade workers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Execute supervisory duties in line with organizational policies and relevant laws.
Monitor and guide the progress of the construction site.
Recognize the need for and negotiate Change Orders in collaboration with the Assistant Project Manager (APM) and PM.
Determine labor requirements for the project.
Monitor project costs to ensure adherence to budget parameters.
Ensure production schedules are maintained to meet project requirements and deadlines.
Ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
Analyze project cost indexes and adapt strategies to benefit the project.
Study and enhance productivity analyses provided by the Project Manager.
Maintain well-organized records and manage all necessary paperwork for the project.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with large groups, clients, and engineers.
Enforce discipline on the jobsite.
Interview, hire, and train direct reports; plan and assign work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve issues.
Collaborate with the client’s site management team to ensure their expectations are met and that the project is safely and effectively completed.
Work with the PM to ensure client expectations align with the agreement and scope of work.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
At least seven years of experience in the Solar or EPC construction industry, with a strong knowledge of construction techniques, estimating, and management.
Previous experience in a supervisory role.
