Job description

​​The Green Recruitment Company are delighted to be supporting our client, a national leading developer of commercial and utility-scale solar farms ranked amongst the top five solar producers in the US. They are seeking a Construction Manager for oversight, coordination, and successful completion of assigned Solar Power Projects.

Location:Virginia/North Carolina

Employment:Full-time

Pay rate:$120k+ (DOE)

Key responsibilities:

  • Is the main point of contact with the client for construction issues to be resolved at the site level.

  • Develops and maintains positive client relationships and ensure client issues are resolved or appropriately escalated as needed.

  • Provide guidance & input to the project management team for all construction issues or changes that will affect scope, schedule or budget of the construction contracts or the EPC contract.

  • Mentor Solar construction team to develop appropriate skills to administer the construction contracts.

  • Provide leadership & direction to the Superintendents and Field Specialists. Ensure Superintendents are engaging with the safety, quality, environmental, commissioning and logistics team members.

  • Ensure Superintendents are engaging with subcontractors to analyze work plans, work methods and progress. Ensure client is identifying risks and opportunities in a timely manner to support the critical path schedule and contract requirements.

  • Ensure client’s concerns are communicated to the site team and home office as appropriate, and are given priority for resolution.

  • Manages implementation of field materials management procedures, monitors compliance and provides feedback to Sr CM or Director of Construction as appropriate.

  • Manages implementation of project commissioning and testing plan, monitors compliance and provides feedback to Sr CM or Director of Construction as appropriate. Provides matrix supervision, guidance and direction to commissioning personnel assigned to the project.

  • Participates in the monthly contractor management meeting.

  • Support PM Team to coordinate and conduct premobilization meetings for all subcontractors and tier subcontractors.

  • Manages project staffing plan, timesheets, time off requests, etc. Communicates staffing needs to Sr CM or Director of Construction in a timely manner to support the project needs.

  • Responsible for ensuring subordinates provide timely & accurate tracking information to Project Controls and ensures adherence to the change management system.

  • Understands the major commercial, scope and deliverable terms of the Prime Contract and construction.

  • Supports implementation of the Project Inspection and Test Plan and QA/QC manual.

  • Monitors and controls work hours, including overtime, by direct reports and contractors.

  • Provides input on the construction portion of the client and construction monthly report.

  • Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.

  • Ensures all project team members receive regular performance assessments and feedback, and that all assessments are fully documented per the CPPM.

  • Implement performance improvement plans when required, and ensure timely, objective feedback on performance improvement objectives.

  • Be a Quality Champion –Ensure implementation of the plan and ensure subcontractors comply with first article inspections and the project Quality Control Plan.

  • Be a Safety Champion – Ensure the construction team “walks the walk” and supports safety initiatives and the safety team.

  • Be an Environmental Champion – ensure environmental issues are prioritized with resources and are resolved or mitigated immediately.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years field experience, at least 5 years as Construction Manager.

  • Be able to interpret construction drawings and specifications.

  • Be able to understand and interpret contract documents as they relate to construction.

  • Be able to execute moderate to advanced tasks in Word, Excel, or other business software platforms.

  • Be able to read and interpret the critical path schedule; experience with Primavera and/or Microsoft Project

  • Experience implementing quality control/quality assurance processes.

  • Demonstrated Safe Working Practices and knowledge of OSHA safety standards.

  • Success at managing and delivering construction projects on schedule and under budget.

  • Ability to analyze project scenarios and implement site-specific design modifications.

  • Self-starter with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Must have a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screening.
