Job description

​I am thrilled to be supporting my client as they grow out their finance team!

The company is one of Europe's largest independent power producers. They have an expansive project pipeline across Europe and South America. The company is looking to expand their presence across the U.S. and need people who are passionate about the energy transition.

This individual will have excellent exposure to senior members of the team, as they will report directly to the Finance and Risk Director. They will be a key contact for the business in the U.S. and work closely with European-based back and middle office team members.

Your Role:

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Communicate with internal and external customers about all matters regarding operationalization of commercial contracts.

  • Ensure commercial contract and trades are captured, validated, and recorded in a timely and accurate manner in the trade depositary system following the principles of the established deal life cycle process for the US.

  • Analyze, value and report transactions during the product life cycle for financial and tax reporting purposes. Issue, reconcile and approve invoices from/to commercial counterparts.

  • Monitor performance and cash settlement. Follow up on late payments / settlement disputes.

  • Contribute to smooth and accurate daily operations across all functions and provide assistance to other finance, risk functions and front office where needed.

  • Assist in the build out and design of internal processes and support projects aimed at improving efficiency and quality assurance.

  • Close co-operation with Front Office, Middle Office and other Back office and finance functions in US and Europe. Actively participate in Back Office relevant meetings with the European teams

Qualifications:

  • College/ University degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or similar educational background with a US work permit.

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot, VBA, lookup and indexes), basic Python (Pandas and Numpy) and basic SQL.

  • 1-3 years of experience in back-office, settlement and /or middle office operations with exposure to US power markets and P&L calculation and reconciliation.

  • Precise, accurate and systematic working style. Willingness to learn about the energy business and related back office and finance functions.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally to Europe.
