Location: Shanghai, China
Salary: RMB 600,000 – 800,000 per annum
Industry: Renewable Energy | Mergers & Acquisitions | Technical Manufacturing
Recruitment Partner: TGRC (The Green Recruitment Company)
Introduction
TGRC is delighted to support a leading international renewable energy enterprise in its search for a high-performing Senior Business Development Manager to join its Shanghai office. This strategic hire will focus on identifying, evaluating, and executing M&A opportunities within the clean energy and technical manufacturing sectors.
This is a rare opportunity to join a globally connected, mission-led business at a time of significant expansion in the APAC region. The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of renewable energy markets, hands-on M&A execution experience, and a technical mindset grounded in manufacturing or industrial operations.
The Role
The Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for originating and managing investment opportunities across China and select international markets. This includes full-lifecycle M&A activity—from target identification and initial engagement through to diligence, valuation, deal structuring, and post-transaction integration support.
Reporting to the Regional Head of Strategy, the role demands a blend of commercial insight, technical appreciation, and cross-cultural communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
M&A Strategy & Execution
Identify and assess new acquisition and joint venture opportunities aligned with the company’s strategic growth plans.
Conduct financial modelling, risk analysis, and commercial due diligence on prospective targets.
Lead transaction execution including deal structuring, term sheet negotiation, and coordination with legal and financial advisors.
Market Intelligence & Origination
Track industry trends, competitor movements, and regulatory changes affecting renewable energy and technical manufacturing sectors.
Build strong networks across developers, OEMs, financiers, and local authorities to surface and nurture new business opportunities.
Participate in conferences, investment forums, and stakeholder engagements to position the company as a partner of choice.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with technical, legal, operations, and finance teams to assess the feasibility of potential projects or acquisitions.
Support integration planning post-transaction to ensure value realization and operational alignment.
Prepare and deliver investment memoranda and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and board members.
Relationship Management
Maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders including joint venture partners, investment banks, and advisors.
Represent the company in high-level negotiations and external discussions related to strategic partnerships and transactions.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a commercially astute and technically fluent professional with a strong record of delivering successful transactions in the renewable energy or industrial manufacturing sectors.
Essential Requirements
Minimum 7 years’ experience in business development, corporate development, or investment/M&A roles within clean energy or technical manufacturing.
Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end transaction processes, including valuation, negotiations, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, particularly wind, solar, or battery storage, and the associated manufacturing landscape.
Business fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
Preferred Attributes
Experience within a multinational corporate environment or leading investment platform.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks for renewable energy investment in China.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions and regions.
Why Apply?
This is a senior-level position with high visibility and direct impact on the strategic trajectory of a globally respected energy business. You will play a vital role in expanding clean energy deployment and industrial capability, while working alongside world-class colleagues across multiple disciplines.
