Sales Manager
Job description
We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development professional to lead the origination and closing of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar and battery storage projects. This role focuses on generating new business opportunities through proactive outreach, relationship building, and strategic partnerships with large energy users.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated sales professional with a strong network in commercial real estate, industrial markets, or the energy sector. This person will thrive in a fast-paced environment, take ownership of building a pipeline, and have a proven ability to close complex energy or infrastructure deals.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Origination
Identify and pursue new C&I solar and battery storage opportunities through proactive prospecting and industry relationships
Develop relationships with commercial property owners, asset managers, industrial companies, manufacturers, data centers, and municipalities
Generate new leads through networking, cold outreach, referrals, and strategic partnerships
Build partnerships with brokers, developers, real estate firms, and energy consultants to create additional deal flow
Sales & Revenue Generation
Manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach through contract execution
Structure and present energy solutions including power purchase agreements (PPAs), solar leases, direct ownership models, and battery storage solutions
Present financial and operational benefits including energy savings, return on investment, resilience, and sustainability impact
Lead negotiations with executive leadership, facility managers, and decision makers
Pipeline Development
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified solar and storage opportunities
Track pipeline activity and forecasting within CRM systems
Consistently meet or exceed revenue and origination targets
Internal Collaboration
Work closely with engineering, finance, and development teams to advance opportunities through feasibility, proposal development, pricing, and financial modeling
Support the structuring of commercial terms and contracts
Ensure a smooth transition of signed projects to development and execution teams
Qualifications
Required
5+ years of experience in business development, enterprise sales, or strategic sales roles
Demonstrated success closing complex deals, ideally valued at $1M or more
Proven ability to originate opportunities through direct prospecting and relationship building
Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to communicate ROI and project economics
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills
Preferred
Experience selling commercial solar, battery storage, energy services, or infrastructure solutions
Established network within commercial real estate, industrial markets, or the energy sector
Understanding of utility tariffs, demand charges, renewable energy incentives, and project financing structures
Experience selling Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) or energy-as-a-service solutions
Performance Expectations
Success in this role will be measured by the ability to generate new project opportunities, build a strong pipeline, and successfully close solar and energy storage deals. Key performance indicators include pipeline value generated, contracts executed, and overall revenue and megawatts closed.
